I have a goal of hitting a home run on my first at bat in the 10th Annual Safe At Home Game on Saturday, August 17th at Georgia Tech. This will be my first time playing baseball in over 20 years since I played professionally in the Chicago Cubs organization.
I’ve been training diligently with weights, flexibility, and hitting, and my diet has been great. I’ve been posting about my goal on social media regularly, sharing my journey and progress.
Today, at 5:47 pm on July 17th, I received a text message from my friend Gabe, who serves as a Campus Liaison Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The FBI will be playing in the Safe At Home Game for the first time this year, adding a new level of excitement to the event.
Gabe’s text read: “I want to pitch the first inning! I love your goals and I want to be front and center…to keep you from homering 😂😂😂”
And just like that, a friendly challenge was born. Gabe and I now have a personal matchup to look forward to. Who will come out on top? Will I achieve my goal of hitting a home run on my first at bat, or will Gabe keep me in check?
Come join us to find out on Saturday, August 17th. Gates open at 10am and the first pitch is at 11am. I hope to be trotting the bases by 11:03. 🚀💣😜
Mark your calendars and come witness this exciting showdown!
